Practitioner Training: Art from the Ordinary

#artcore is offering a full day of training, looking at ways to engage non-performers in creating Art with an emphasis on young people aged 13 – 25. The main focus of this workshop is to challenge the perception of art and work on how to get your message across, whether that be using non-traditional environments or unconventional methods of theatre and visual art, making short, impactful statements.

Who is this course for?
This course is for artists, performers and creative practitioners, employers, managers and workshop assistants including young people aged 15 +. If you are interested in exploring creative ways of working with young people aged 13 – 25 then this training is for you. You may be working in arts, education or community role, either paid or unpaid.
Heather Marshall is looking for keen, smart and fearless participants to come on a new journey with her, to discover how fearless art-making can be shared.
If you are about to start work with a new group, are looking for inspiration or to find new ways of engaging participants then this is the workshop for you.
Aims
To be part of a group of people from various backgrounds and experiences will delve deep for a day of action, politicisation, conversation and creation.
To introduce participants to individuality, concept, style, creating new material and dreaming big.
To share innovative approaches to engage with your audience
To develop ways of creating wrap around activity for your project.
To enable participants to leave with a plan for how you will continue to use their new creative skills in a project, team or artwork.
About the trainer
Heather Marshall is the Creative Director of Creative Electric. She trained at Queen Margaret University and is interested in creating contemporary performance inspired by real people and their stories. She believes that an audience shapes a performance with their reactions, whether they actively participate or become unintentional performers.
A finalist in the Creative Scotland Young Scot Arts Award 2014 with Creative Electric, Heather was also awarded a Federation of Scottish Theatre mentorship in 2014. She was awarded the Audience Choice Award for best show for Auditory Hallucinations, which played to sellout audiences in Stockholm as part of Stoff 2013. Auditory Hallucinations was supported by Creative Scotland through both Quality Production for its creation and then through the International funding strand for its Swedish tour. http://www.creative-electric.co.uk/
