The Out of the Blue Drill Hall is one of the nationwide hubs working in support of the Government’s Time to Shine, 10 year youth arts strategy, supported by Creative Scotland. #artcore has generated a huge amount of activity with our partners throughout the city, and given significant platforms for young people’s creativity. The OOTB Drill Hall will welcome the national hubs to a network meeting on May 23rd and we encourage everyone to visit Out of the Blueprint, #artcore’s print studio run by young people, at their weekly Saturday drop-in between 10am and 5pm.
Out of the Blue welcome Spect-Act (21st), part of a two-year project run by our partners, Active Inquiry, with the goal of developing a network of Theatre of the Oppressed companies in Edinburgh, blurring the lines between actor and audience and offering a space for dialogue and building knowledge.
We also welcome our Leith neighbours from the Multi-Cultural Family Base who are holding an Exhibition and Art Sale (24th – 27th) to promote the work of their Banyan Project, which works with young Black and Minority Ethnic people.
Out of the Blue’s Bruncheon (14th) is a platform for aspiring and established musicians to perform in the relaxed ambience of the Out of the Blue Drill Hall. May’s offering from the hipper kipper features The Banana Sessions, Candythief & Paul Montague.
Other highly convivial events include the ever popular Wiff Waff Wednesday (11th), a monthly ping pong night for all ages with music, drink and great food from the Drill Hall Arts Cafe.
The monthly Flea Market (30th April & 28th May) will once again transform the Drill Hall into a treasure trove for the discerning rummager.
