November 2016 News

Wednesday 26th October 2016

Leith Moves is an Out of the Blue Heritage Lottery Fund supported education project investigating the historical significance of Leith Docks. Following on from the success of the ‘Gretna 100’ production and the ‘Tales from the Hanging Captain’, our project will now explore the themes of the movement of people to and from Leith.

Join OOTB based theatre groups Active Inquiry and Strange Town Young Company at the Flashback Drama Group or OOTB’s Research Group to explore why people left Leith to live in other counties or arrived into Leith as New Scots. All Welcome – details on the Leith Moves page.

Would I Lie To You? The Art of Politics and Propaganda (3rd – 15th) sees OOTB Drill Hall studio based art and technology pioneer Trevor Jones exhibiting a series of augmented reality oil paintings of world leaders created from rubbish found on the streets of Leith.

Join us at November’s Freeze Frame Film Club (4th) to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the London premier of the highly influential British classic ‘A Matter of Life and Death’. Classic food will complement the film from the OOTB Drill Hall Arts cafe. The cafe will also supply welcoming and delicious food to accompany the mellow music of Bruncheon (12th) featuring Candy Thief, The Kitchen Stools and Liam Baker.

And don’t miss OOTB Drill Hall regular favourites Wiff Waff Wednesday (9th), the legendary Flea Market (26th) and the Vintage Kilo Sale (19th).

Prior to November’s busy programme of events visit the 20th Edinburgh Independent and Radical Book Fair (Oct 26th – 30th) for talks, film screenings plus a huge array of books.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
