January 2017 News

Tuesday 10th January 2017

A very Happy New Year from all at Out of the Blue. We are delighted to offer a rich and varied programme of events, classes, workshops, projects and exhibitions for the people of Leith, Edinburgh and beyond!

OOTB’s flagship Leith Moves project is building towards productions in June and August. Feel free to be part of the action by joining the ongoing Drama and Research groups.

The OOTB Drill Hall welcomes #artcore young artist in residence George Douglas whose exhibition Contents Insurance runs from 16th January – 11th February. The exhibition showcases the RISO printing process of Out of the Blueprint – OOTB’s latest social enterprise.

OOTB are delighted that our other regular Drill Hall events return for 2017.

Wiff Waff Wednesday (11th) is the OOTB Drill Hall’s monthly ping pong night for all ages with music, drink and great food at the Drill Hall Arts Cafe.

The first Bruncheon of the year (14th) promises to be special with a stellar line up of mellow music put together by guest programmer Candythief. Bruncheon is running alongside a Re-Act fundraising Jumble Sale for aid to directly help refugees.

The Out of the Blue Flea Market (28th) offers stalls full to bursting with clothes, jewellery, small furniture, music, books, bric-a-brac and so much more. Supported by the Drill Hall Arts Cafe which offers a delicious range of savouries and cakes.

In other news, Young Fathers, who originally got together at the Bongo Club and are current OOTB studio residents, are featured on the Trainspotting 2 soundtrack. Congratulations from the OOTB and Bongo Club teams!

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
