Retina Festival – The Royal Photographic Society’s International Print Exhibition
Tuesday 11th - Friday 21st July 2017
10am - 5pm Mon - Sat
The Royal Photographic Society’s International Print Exhibition was inaugurated in 1854 and during its early history included work by some of the world’s most eminent photographers including Julia Margaret Cameron and Edward Steichen.
This is the 159th edition, which makes it the longest-running exhibition of its kind in the world. Now run as an annual open submission competition, images were submitted from photographers worldwide and the finalists and medal winners were selected by a panel of photographic professionals.
The 159th exhibition features an eclectic mix of work by 75 photographers from 16 countries which showcases a variety of genres and styles, with traditional photography being shown alongside contemporary work. It provides a fascinating insight into the range and diversity of today’s photography and for the first time in the exhibition’s long history, all four medal winners are women.
Part of this year’s Retina Scottish International Photography Festival programme.
