Both the Out of the Blue Drill Hall Café and Out of the Blueprint are fully operational social enterprises providing quality products and services, enhancing the local Leith community and contributing to the wider social enterprise sector in Scotland. In the past ten years we have provided over 200 training opportunities to young people, who have served an estimated 700,000 customers in the café. We often employ former trainees and continue our work with them over many years.
We aim to increase the long-term sustainability of our training programme by increasing trading income through spin off developments, often devised with the young people who are ex-trainee staff members of Out of the Blue. Initiatives devised and run by the café team feature heavily in a buzzing Autumn Drill Hall events programme.
