Out of the Blue thrives on the mix of enterprise and social impact, commonly known as social enterprise. Whilst supporting artists and enterprises at our 6 Edinburgh run buildings, we continue to develop our own enterprises which include The Bongo Club, Out of the Blueprint, Abbeymount Studios and the Out of the Blue Drill Hall Cafe.
Out of the Blueprint’s model of training, trading and creative programme is the most creative, environmentally friendly and generally friendly print project in the country. We run accessible Riso print workshops and develop projects supporting young people.
The Out of the Blue Drill Hall Cook School is our latest enterprise, supported by the Scottish Government’s Social Enterprise division. The Cook School is taking shape to feature a range of cookery classes and community meal events designed and led by our cafe team, including our young ex-trainee employees.
The Cafe organised Makers Marque will introduce Cook School tasters as well as being a fantastic opportunity for people to get involved, learn a new skill and see the processes that usually take place behind closed studio doors, with a great range of local traders and designers.
The sum of Out of the Blue’s social enterprises is greater than the parts. If you would like to help our work develop, feel free to offer a financial donation here.
