Living Through Covid: The City Turned Upside Down
Tuesday 17th - Friday 20th May
10am - 5pm, free entry (closes at 4pm on 20th May)
Living Through Covid: The City Turned Upside Down is a creative exploration of the early stages of the pandemic through the eyes of frontline staff in the homelessness sector and people experiencing homelessness.
This was a strange time that brought many challenges and turned our city upside down. People who usually lived on the streets were moved into city centre hotels; people who usually stayed in luxury city centre hotels were working from home; and frontline workers were working outside, using park benches as offices.
Cyrenians and researchers at University of Edinburgh captured this unique point in time with frontline staff, managers and people experiencing homelessness and social isolation documenting their experiences through poems, songs, video interviews, reflective journals, tweets and photographs.
Join us at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall as we showcase these materials as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival. The project was funded by Lankelly Chase Foundation and the exhibition is supported by the Edinburgh Futures Institute at the University of Edinburgh.
