Active Inquiry presents Drama for Democracy
Thursday 1st December 2022
11am - 1pm, free entry - prebooking required
This latest project from Active Inquiry is funded by Creative Scotland and presented in partnership with Shakti Women’s Aid, the Bethany Christian Trust and The Alma Project.
Drama for Democracy is three new plays devised and performed by people with lived experience. Active Inquiry want to involve people across the country in deep questions about how we can find help when we need it, make systems work for people, encourage community solidarity and protect the Earth.
The three plays presented will be:
From Pillar to Post – Isabella is a great neighbour, good friend and excellent artist. She is also unwell. Are her struggles to keep her house something she needs to solve on her own or part of wider problems? How can a community come together and help?
The Broken Wing – Sofia wants to stretch her wings and fly. She is living in Temporary Accommodation. She is searching for solidarity, and for her freedom. Can she and those around her, face their struggles together, as well as standing for the Earth Herself? What is getting in the way of her finding that collective power, that she once knew?
Knock Knock, who’s there? – Ava’s world is shrinking. It’s time to take a leap of faith. But that’s ok. Help will be there when she asks for it. Won’t it?
Devised and performed by Active Inquiry’s Spect-Act Network.
The performances will be followed by discussions on the themes raised.
