May News

Friday 28th April 2023

With an exciting events and exhibitions programme, there’s lots coming up this month at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall. We’re especially delighted to host three new exhibitions, including Outside + In. Running from 15th to 20th May, it’s a group showing of artwork and creations by Drill Hall residents. Then Drill Hall resident Ian Gonczarow will be exhibiting some of his latest work from 23rd to 25th May.

At Out of the Blueprint, we’re running the ever-popular risoprint workshops in May and June where you can learn how to produce your own 2-colour A3 risograph prints. There’s also still time to see the fascinating Leith Folk & Lore exhibition – it’s on until 26th May.

Our famous monthly Flea Market takes place on Saturday 27th May and of course the Drill Hall cafe will be open throughout the month with a great selection of teas, coffees, and hot and cold snacks.

Over at Out of the Blue Abbeymount Studios, final preparations are under way for the Open Studios weekend on the 20th and 21st. A free event, it’s a great opportunity to meet our resident artists and makers and browse their work, including painting, textiles, ceramics and glass.

Thank you for your support and hope to see you soon! In the meantime, read on to find out more about what’s coming up.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
