April 2014 News
26th March 2014
Out of the Blue have been a hot house of creativity since birth; born in a small shop in Edinburgh’s Old Town back in 1994 when to find creative space in Edinburgh was a massive challenge. Created by intrepid and determined young artists, who having seen what was possible in the cities of mainland Europe, returned home to a commercially rich and creatively poor city.
Their dreams, supported by the principles and commitment of many, many people have now carried OOTB into our twentieth glorious year! Thousands of people now arrive at the OOTB Drill Hall for studios, classes, workshops, markets, projects, events, festivals and to visit the vibrant Cafe. OOTB will showcase our contribution to the culture of Edinburgh throughout the rest of 2014.
In April OOTB are delighted to be hosting 3 fabulous shows as part of the Puppet Animation Festival –Albert’s Amazing Flea Circus (7th), Two Can Toucan (8th) and Little Princess Goldtree (9th) and on the 25th Jabuti Theatre will be performing their puppet show MyCity.
We are also looking forward to the continuing trilogy of photography exhibitions throughout April. Place: Rediscovery, Analysis and Displaced are three exhibitions of works created by third year Edinburgh Napier University photography students.
In 1996 OOTB gave birth to the Bongo Club and the Bongo Lives! Festival at the end of April and early May celebrates our place in the city.
