Supporting the aspirations and adventures of Out of the Blue studio based artists has always been an important element of OOTB’s mission. The OOTB Drill Hall sees resident artists Precious Metals Workshop ‘Going for Gold’ with a programme of talks and workshops on 28th and 29th March directed at silversmiths and jewellers, who will learn about the impact of making and how to communicate the value of ethical making to buyers.
Also OOTB’s resident theatre makers Strange Town Easter Project enable young people to create their own live video game. Young people are also treated to the opportunity to participate in the Puppet Animation Festival when the UK’s oldest and largest performing arts festival for children, returns to the Drill Hall from the 9th – 11th April.
Out of the Blue’s own initiatives include Wiff Waff Wednesday (28th March, 25th April), Bruncheon (14th April) and the legendary Flea Market (31st March and 28th April). New and exciting developments include Velow Bikeworks and Out of the Blue hosting the inaugural Edinburgh Cycle Fair at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall for an afternoon of all things cycling, all under one roof (8th April). Additionally Out of the Blueprint are launching Print Jam (7th April), a monthly creative meetup for young people. With comic-making workshops, ‘Urban Legends’ exhibition, superhero life drawing and risograph demos, this is a celebration of all things print!
New guest events include IberoDocs in collaboration with Bendita tú, Women Being and Filmoteca Castilla y León (Spain), who present a variety of modes of documentary short films directed by emerging female filmmakers (5th April).
