Edinburgh Art Festival, Artists Talk: Yann Seznec in Conversation with Martin Parker

Tuesday 26 August 2014
18:30 to 19:30

Free entry, but please book in advance. Book tickets

Drill Hall based artist and musician Yann Seznec often uses technology as a medium to reveal natural processes that are imperceptible to the human eye or ear. In his Edinburgh Art Festival Currents he expands his interest in technology as a tool, to consider how it shapes our environment. Computer fans are now a ubiquitous technology, used to cool down machinery when we produce, consume or analyse information. Frequently discarded, the fans point to our obsession with change, as well as the realities of a global economy that make it cheaper to produce anew rather than repair.

Seznec will talk about his work, ideas and approach with composer and sound artist Martin Parker before giving a performance using the instruments specially created for Currents.

Currents is open from 31 July – 31 August 2014, free admission
Easter Road (Corner of Albion Road), EH7 5QJ

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
