August 2013 News

31st July 2013

August is special. Over recent years OOTB have tried our best to fully connect the drill hall to the festival, whilst still being a work place for our many studio artists and organisations. We have been a venue for both the International and Fringe Festival and this year we are extremely happy to be hosting the fabulous Forest Fringe. The Forest Fringe offer generosity and experimentation, kindness, informality with the emphasis on community and co-operation. This festival the OOTB Drill Hall will be full of the subtle creations of upcoming artists. You are warmly invited to spend time exploring the many and various – all free by donation (16th-25th 11am -11pm)

Prior to FF@OOTB we have Robert Ormerod‘s extraordinary photos of Doo flying, a pass-time which has been practiced in Scotland since Victorian times. The other half of the exhibition features his portraits of young people involved in Scottish political parties. It is business as usual albeit with a festival twist for Bruncheon (10th). The Hip Kipper will serve up mouth watering music accompanied by the Drill Hall cafe’s fantastic festival food. At the end of August the cafe also supports the Festival Flea Market (31st), and the always special Wiff Waff Wednesday (28th). Visit our website for a full run down on the full range of events, classes, workshops and exhibitions.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
