August News
Friday 7th August 2020
The Out of the Blue Drill Hall cafe team have adapted the cafe operation and are delighted to be able to reopen our big blue doors on Monday 10th August. Benefiting from the large glass roofed drill hall atrium, we will provide plenty of physical distance between customers, and safely serve you a new range of lovingly prepared meals and snacks.
We’d love to welcome you back. We are adopting and enhancing the ‘Eat Out to Help Out Scheme’ to provide 50% off all sit in meals and non-alcoholic drinks from Monday to Friday (not just Mon – Wed!) during August (from 10th to 31st) for up to £10 per person.
We continue to follow Scottish Government guidelines and will endeavour to get our social enterprise back on track, as and when it is safe to do so.
We are supporting our studio based artists to return to their businesses and also have studios to rent and rooms to book. We are in dialogue with organisations who are adapting socially distanced classes and workshops to fit our beautiful spaces.
The start of August marks the end of Out of the Blue’s inaugural partnership with the SCRAN Academy which produced, packaged and delivered nutritious meals to Edinburgh’s most vulnerable households. The project utilised 23,000 volunteer hours to provide 100,000 meals for 3,035 people. (Phew!)
Out of the Blueprint is also very much back in business to satisfy Edinburgh’s Riso printing needs. Additionally, in partnership with Port of Leith Housing Association we have established aCommunity Recovery Eco Print Service and are printing FREE posters & flyers for community projects in Leith and North Edinburgh to raise awareness of the range of wonderful local support/recovery services.
We do appreciate that there are many people and organisations in dire need during these challenging times however we are asking all of our supporters to help us if they can, and in whatever way they can. So far we have raised over £5,000 from donations, which is now in the artists solidarity fund to enable us to help keep artists doing their thing. Thank you to all who have donated. Your support is appreciated and we are touched by the messages of support that have accompanied them.
We know that many of you will have nothing to spare, but if you can make a donation to support us, click here.
Thank you!
