December News

Thursday 25th December 2021

Out of the Blue have been running popular Arts Markets since we were able to open the big blue Drill Hall doors to the public in 2004. Over the years our Arts Markets have enabled many thousands of people to buy a huge range of top quality arts and crafts direct from hundreds of makers. Our two Christmas Arts Markets on the Saturday 4th and Saturday 11th December will feature the innovative work of over 100 artists over the two dates.

The licensed Drill Hall cafe will be open, serving delicious meals, snacks and festive refreshments to support you in your browsing.

If you are keen to buy some quality jewellery, Drill Hall residents The Precious Metals Workshop are running a Festive Exhibition featuring a wide range of work created by the talented PMW jewellers from the 7th-9th December.

Our site at Abbeymount Studios has been operating since 2017 as a multi disciplinary facility for engagement in craft and design. Many of the resident artists will be selling their wares at the Abbeymount Makers Market on the 4th December.

A chance to visit both Abbeymount Studios and the Drill Hall for a huge range of unique art and gifts direct from the talented makers.

The Drill Hall cafe will be closed on Wednesday 22nd December and reopens on Wednesday 5th January.

Thank you for your support.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
