Your Event at the Drill Hall

Your Venue

Your venue is a Rowand Anderson (Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Glasgow Central Hotel, McEwan Hall) designed Drill Hall off bustling Leith Walk. Since a comprehensive and Award-winning revamp, Out of the Blue has created a buzzing arts centre where troops once drilled.

Both the Main Hall – with capacity for up to 500 guests, and the Rehearsal Studio (capacity 100) are well suited to a wide variety of events.

Your Hosts

The Out of the Blue staff team is well-versed in organising and running a wide variety of events. The Drill Hall has played host to large scale theatre and music shows, exhibition openings, festival receptions, product launches, ping-pong parties, as well as christenings and dinner parties.

The venue has in-house sound, projection and lighting capabilities to help set the scene just as you wish.

We are also lucky enough to be able to employ the services of a wide range of musicians and performers in order to create the right vibe. From jazz guitar to sea shanties, and from high-up aerial acrobatics to close-up card tricks!

If you or your client are looking for something active, we can roll out the eight ping-pong tables for the evening. Anyone for (table) tennis?

Your Misc.

Of course, the Drill Hall cafe is licensed to sell alcohol, should you or guests wish to avail.

Dalmeny Street lies between Leith Walk and Easter Road, with great bus links and unrestricted on-street parking.

The hall has great access for wheelchair-users and others with mobility issues.

PLEASE NOTE:

Because of our location in a residential area, and due to the listed glazed roof of the hall, there are certain limitations to how late and loud we can be. Luckily there is no end of places nearby where the party can continue after we tidy up at ten-thirty!

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
