Edinburgh Quartet & Dance Ihayami

Western classical music meets Eastern classical dance in this one-off special event as Edinburgh Quartet & Dance Ihayami perform the première of a new choreographed dance work set to movements of Shostakovich’s String Quartet No.8.

The Edinburgh Quartet has long been celebrated as one of Britain’s foremost chamber ensembles, having appeared regularly at prestigious venues across the UK and toured extensively across Europe, the Far and Middle East, and North and South America. www.edinburghquartet.com

Dance Ihayami is Scotland’s Indian dance company, dedicated to Indian classical dance in its purest form, as well as the contemporisation of the dance form. The company challenges ideas about Indian classical dance and creates innovative work, regularly collaborating with different art forms and media

    We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

    Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.
