Edinburgh Stories

Monday 14th November - Friday 18th November
Opens at 3pm on 14th Nov, then daily 10am-5pm, free entry

Edinburgh Stories features artists Sally Richardson and Alan Armstrong, whose paintings and mixed media work interpret the stories which make Edinburgh unique.

Sally is a Scottish artist who grew up in Angus and lives in the Abbeyhill Colonies with her children and rescue cat Scampi. Scampi is Sally’s muse and an Instagram star. Sally works from her colony home where she is surrounded by her subject matter and also draws and paints Edinburgh and beyond. She has exhibited in venues and galleries throughout Edinburgh and the borders, including the Borders Art Fair.

Alan lives in Edinburgh and began his artistic journey through art therapy, before supporting people with learning disabilities to explore their creativity and exhibit work. He volunteers at NHS Scotland’s Mindful Activities ward and is developing his own abstract portfolio of work. He recently exhibited with Creative ADHD in collaboration with The Wee Hub at Ocean Terminal.

  • Donate

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
