January News

Friday 5th January 2024

Happy New Year!

We hope you all had a lovely festive season.

January sees the start of a new term of classes at the Drill Hall. If you fancy learning aerial skills, All or Nothing offer a programme of classes for all ages and abilities including static trapeze and aerial skills.

Active Inquiry Flashback Theatre Company restart on Monday 22nd January, developing a new piece of theatre for the Leith Festival in June. On the youth drama front, Strange Town will be running classes for 8 – 18 year-olds giving them the chance to learn about different styles of performing.

If you’re looking to get crafty, both Remode Collective and the Precious Metals Workshop have a brand new programme of classes and workshops starting in January.

Out of the Blueprint have a new artist-in-residence – Lauren Cory. Lauren is a multi-disciplinary artist who draws inspiration from video games, the natural landscape and abstract paintings. She uses colour and analogue materials to create dream-like familiar worlds that question the boundaries between the digital and the physical. See more of her work on instagram @lovelylawn.

Our monthly Flea Market is also back on Saturday 27th January. Come and browse over 45 stalls packed with pre-loved clothes, jewellery and collectibles.

As always, the Drill Hall Café will be open throughout January, serving a great selection of teas, coffees and treats.

Thank you once again for your support. In the meantime, take a look at our programme to find out more about what’s coming up.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
