July 2014 News

30th June, 2014

July at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall brings many opportunities to experience a wide range of classes, workshops, events and exhibitions. OOTB Drill Hall resident theatre company Strange Town’s Summer performance project enables young people to discover their talents and create a play in just five days. There are a rich assortment of classes from jewellery making to aerial dance including the Strangebird Zirkus Summer Aerial Intensive Workshop. There is also a great opportunity to join Junkanoo Commandos to make Carnival Costumes in preparation for parading at the Edinburgh Festival Carnival.

The OOTB Wiff Waff project runs on an intergenerational, multi cultural ‘Friendship 1st Competition 2nd’ principle. As the culmination of a year of community activities Wiff Waff is organising an exhibition, PLAY, featuring the work of local talented artists and a community table tennis day.

As always Bruncheon offers great music and food in the convivial atmosphere and setting of the Drill Hall Arts Cafe. Likewise the OOTB Flea Market is offering the chance to discover some tip top treasure and tasty treats from the cafe.

And finally, OOTB are currently recruiting a Buildings Management Assistant. Follow the link to access details of this interesting job opportunity.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
