June 2014 News

30th May 2014

Out of the Blue are moving seamlessly into the next 20 years with a rich and varied June Programme. The legendary Out of the Blue Arts Market offers the chance to buy quality artworks direct from the makers (7th) and on the following day the OOTB supported Friends of Dalmeny Street Park present Scruffts – (so much more than a dog show!) in our local park. OOTB’s contribution to Leith Festival (14th-22nd June) includes collaborations with Edinburgh College Exposed 14 exhibition, Active Inquiry Fish is the Future and LeithLate (exhibition event and Bruncheon!). Also look out for the Drill Hall Cafe’s outdoor offering of tasty food, drinks and music at Leith Links Gala Day (14th). If the weather’s bad, it’s all back to ours at the Drill Hall.

A special event is also taking place to begin to investigate the impact on the community of the 1915 Gretna rail disaster. We are inviting you to come and get involved in the Gretna 100 project which will include a research group, producing an original piece of theatre and an exhibition. We are holding an informal meeting to ask questions, share stories and find out how you can be involved (21st). Finally, the very end of June sees the chance for young people to ‘Create a Play in just five days’ with the Strange Town Summer Project.

Visit our website for a full run down on the range of eventsclassesworkshops and exhibitions. Feel free to get involved in the action and get regular weekly updates by joining us on Facebook and Twitter.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
