Free the Spirit: The photographic art of Mahmoud Al Khurd

Tuesday 21st - Friday 24th August 2018
10am - 5pm, free entry

Opening Night: Monday 20th August, 6pm-8pm. All welcome to attend

Three years ago, Mahmoud Al Khurd was a prizewinner in a competition sponsored by the Network of Photographers for Palestine (NPP) involving over 100 entries. Now galleries across Scotland, from Edinburgh to Inverness will be hosting an exhibition of photographs by this internationally acclaimed Palestinian photographer during the months of August and September.

Mahmoud is one of the most outstanding creative spirits in Palestinian photography today. His unique vision has already won him the prestigious Karimah Abboud Photography Award. A Palestinian refugee, living and working in Gaza, Mahmoud graduated with a degree in Arts and Humanities, before developing his practice as an art photographer.

Join us on Monday 20th August from 6pm – 7.30pm to chat with this extraordinary photographer by video link from Gaza.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
