Enjoy a rich and diverse programme of events at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall this May. It is 10 years since OOTB launched the Drill Hall Arts Cafe, recently described as “…a gem of a cafe…” in The List Eating and Drinking Guide 2017/18). Over 180 young people have benefited from training in the cafe and many remain as cafe workers, having served the community with 115,000 cups of coffee and 35,000 breakfast rolls! Help us celebrate at a special 10th anniversary Bruncheon (13th) programmed by Candythief and Bruncheon’s founding member Isi Lohss. Come along for top-notch live music, an extra special birthday menu, bubbly, cake and the usual delicacies. The cafe also organises and supports the legendary Flea Markets (29th April, 27th May).
Congratulations also to OOTB residents Take One Action, celebrating 10 years of a vibrant film culture and social-change victories, big and small. All welcome to join the celebration (3rd May).
Active Inquiry have also worked in collaboration with OOTB for 10 years, making a major contribution to our programme of educational projects, with OOTB resident theatre company, Strange Town. Both groups are collaborating on the Spect-Act Festival (20th and 21st) and the OOTB Heritage Lottery Fund supported project Leith Moves.
Wiff Waff Wednesday (10th) offers conviviality, food, drink, music and games of ping pong for all ages.
And there is a last chance to see Don’t Be Denied – a powerful exhibition of new print work by graphic designer Rumana Sayed, produced during her residency in Out of the Blueprint between January – March 2017.
