We all have belongings which mean something special to us, or remind us of a certain time. For some, it is the brooch of a favourite relative, for others it can be a particular item of clothing, or a children’s toy. These belongings are part of our daily lives, and so they are part of our stories. Sometimes, we use art and other creative tools to help us express our stories – photography, poetry, painting. The ‘My Journey With Women’s Aid’ exhibition will display the meaningful belongings, poetry, and art work of women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse, alongside their stories of how Women’s Aid have helped them. Through the exhibition you will witness the voices and stories of women, children and young people talking about domestic abuse and their journeys with Women’s Aid services across Scotland.
This exhibition forms part of Scottish Women’s Aid’s exiting programme for the 16 Days of Action 2013 – a global campaign to Eliminate Violence Against Women. This exhibition will show you why this goal is so important.
