November 2015 News
Friday 30th October
Throughout our history, Out of the Blue have initiated many projects which have given opportunities for thousands of people to get involved in a huge range of creative activity. On November 21st, the Gretna 100 Film Screening will feature two films from Drill Hall based film maker Ray Bird. One film tells the story of the 1915 Gretna rail tragedy which had such a devastating effect on the Leith community, whilst the other documents OOTB’s Gretna 100 educational project, 100 years on. There is another chance to see the Seven of the 7th Exhibition (16th-23rd).
OOTB’s #artcore have launched their autumn programme for young people aged 13 – 25 at the Drill Hall and other venues across Edinburgh. The programme includes exciting new opportunities in print, digital art, voice acting, music, comics & animation, creative writing and circus skills. #artcore are also hosting a couple of innovative training days in November, helping artists and practitioners develop their own talents, learn new skills and widen engagement. Experienced workers are providing training for both individuals and organisations and are suitable for artists, musicians, theatre makers, arts managers, workshop assistants and volunteers aged 15 to any age.
And Out of the Blueprint is the newly launched social enterprise from the #artcore team. Riso printing is a low-cost, eco-friendly print process which is similar to screenprinting – and can reproduce thousands of fine looking copies very quickly and cheaply. Feel free to explore and place your order.
