‘Pension 55’ presentation and debate

Tuesday 22nd January 2019
1.15pm - 3.30pm, Free entry

M&GPrudential “Pension 55” in partnership with Citizens Advice Edinburgh

1.15pm – 2.15pm:
Being wise with your pension – presentation and Q&A

This is an informative presentation from Pension Wise (a service designed to help people understand their pension options) focusing on the implications of the 2015 changes to the pensions law.
This short presentation with experts from the Pension Wise service will look at the pros and cons of accessing your whole pension when you are 55 and onwards, helping you to make sense of your many options. You’ll have the chance to ask questions, share any concerns you have and learn from experts.

2.30pm – 3.30pm: Debate
“This house believes there are more risks than benefits in allowing people to access the whole of their pension at 55.” Please join us for a lively and informative debate! Come and hear two debating teams fight out their views on whether or not the pension law is irresponsible – and have your say! On one hand a pension is just a financial mechanism to give you an income post-retirement. But in reality it is so much more than that – the choices you make are a representation of your needs, your vulnerabilities, your life plans and your attitude to spending and saving.
