Whilst Zine Project

Craft materials on a table including paint, paintbrushes, scissors and pencils

May 2020 – an ongoing project

A collaborative zine project celebrating the resilience of the Out of the Blue community during the Covid 19 pandemic .

Out of the Blue artists and businesses have been asked what they’ve been doing during the lockdown and how the pandemic has impacted their work/life. Their contributions, whether that be a photograph of new work, a painting or words illustrating how they’ve coped during the pandemic, will be collated to create a final risograph printed zine.

The Whilst Zine will form part of an Out of the Blue group exhibition at the Drill Hall when we reopen to the public.

If you are an OOTB resident artist or business and would like to contribute to the Zine, please email your photos, digital files and any questions you have about the project to whilst@outoftheblue.org.uk, or post them to us at Whilst Out of the Blue Zine, The Out of the Blue Drill Hall, 36 Dalmeny Street, Edinburgh EH6 8RG.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
