Strangebird Zirkus Summer Aerial Intensive 2015 – Hoop & Silks

Mon 13th July - Wed 15th July 10am-1pm & Thurs 16th July 11am-2pm

Content: The course will focus on polishing base technique & widening participants range of movements on aerial hoop and silks. Each day will include a choreography session with a view to each participant combining familiar and new material into an original short choreography. We will also do exercises to develop performance skills and stage presence. The course will not include a showing with public, it will be purely to enhance participants skills and choreographic abilities.

Level: This course is suitable for those regularly attending improver or intermediate level aerial classes who wish to give their skills a boost over the summer and are interested in starting/ continuing to build longer choreographies on aerial hoop & silks with a view to performing or simply for their for their own enjoyment. You do not need to have a vast experience of hoop or silks to attend but should have a good level of aerial fitness and be confident in the air.

Apparatus: The apparatus on offer during the course will be hoop & silks. My view is to have all participants switch between both apparatus for skills but then focus on one for building a choreography. This preference should be specified at the  time of booking.

Teacher: Lucy Deacon is a performer, a teacher and a choreographer of circus movement. She is specialised in Aerial Hoop, Silks, Chinese Pole & Static Trapeze. She has been a circus professional since 2003 and consolidated her skills during a full time Circus Arts Diploma at Rogelio Rivel circus school in Barcelona from 2005-2007, she continues to investigate the possibilities of these apparatus and to share her discoveries. Her focus these days is teaching others and passing on her vast experience in technical, creative and performance skills.
