We are the Palestinians
28th October - 13th November 2015
Stories of the Irish or Italian or other immigrant communities that have come to Scotland are relatively well known, those of the Palestinian community however are not. This project aims to start to address this by providing a showcase for members of the Palestinian community in Scotland to tell their own story.
In order to explore identity and what it means to be Palestinian living in Scotland I worked with participants and they told me their personal stories. I recorded a short interview and then made a portrait of each. Most importantly I asked them to select some of their own pictures from the past and to photograph the things that matter/are important to them and tell us more about themselves and their journey. From the photo’s and other objects generated I made a 3d montage/collage for each person showing six unique life journeys as a Palestinian living in Scotland.
This exhibition features work from photographer Craig MacLean.
