Since 2009

The beating heart of the Drill Hall

Set in the heart of the Drill Hall, the cafe is the perfect place to relax after a class or event, or simply to catch up with friends for lunch or a coffee.

Aims and Ambitions

To provide a friendly welcome in a comfortable space for any and all visitors to the Drill Hall, serving honest and well-priced food and drinks.

History

Since 2009 the cafe has embedded itself in the local community, and we have taken pride in our varied staff team which includes young trainees, volunteers and supported colleagues.

What Happens Here

Described as the “beating heart of Leith” by The Times and “one of the 5 best cafes in Scotland”, the Drill Hall Arts Cafe is a social enterprise, using fresh, organic free-range and locally sourced ingredients. The cafe employs and supports many local people and also caters for events taking place in the Drill Hall. Over the years the cafe has lead on several projects, from Training, to the Preserves project

The Future

After fifteen years, the Drill Hall Cafe looks forward to welcoming tens of thousands more folk from Leith and beyond in the years to come.
