Out of the Blueprint is a social enterprise and offers an affordable and eco-friendly print service, with a particular focus on supporting under 25s.
Aims and Ambitions
To be at the heart of a print-based multi arts scene in Leith (Edinburgh), specifically providing opportunities for young people under 25, supporting them to thrive and flourish.
History
Out of The Blueprint was set up in 2015 as a way to involve more young people in the activities and programmes at Out of the Blue. Originally run as the anchor project of the Time to Shine youth arts hub in Edinburgh, the studio offered traineeships and was just one part of a programme of multi - arts activity delivered across the city.
What Happens Here
Out of the Blueprint is our social enterprise print studio, which provides eco friendly and affordable print services for local organisations, charities and artist/freelancers, who wish to reduce their carbon footprint.
Using sustainable Japanese print processes, we produce posters, flyers, booklets, T-shirts, tote bags and more. We then re-invest the profits we make into supporting young people through residencies, exhibitions, workshops and traineeships.

The Future
In 2025 we will be celebrating 10 years of Out of the Blueprint! Looking forward to the year ahead.
We are delighted that we have received funding from Creative Scotland for our 2025 creative programme and in summer we will bring back our annual Print Expo to The Drill Hall and develop a new touring exhibition. We will also collaborate with Edinburgh Napier University to develop our online presentation of artwork, and we plan to develop and refresh our strategy to see us through whatever the future brings.
Our long-term aim is, and always has been, to develop Out of the Blueprint as the heart of a vibrant, sustainable print-based arts community in Leith, supporting young people to create, flourish and thrive.
