Frances Priest is a leading figure in the world of ceramics with a distinct hand and a clear voice as to the relevance and power of craft in contemporary life. Edinburgh has been her home since she graduated from the Ceramics department at Edinburgh College of Art in 1998.
With a practice that spans ceramic art, design and craft, Frances’s work has a keen following from private collectors and cultural establishments alike. Her studio ceramics are part of permanent collections at The National Museums of Scotland, The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge and The V&A in London. Beyond the studio Frances collaborates with architects and interior designers to create unique tiled art works for architectural spaces.
Public commissions include the award winning Tiled Corridor for The Royal Edinburgh Hospital and Patterns of Flora Mapping Seven Raasay Habitats for Atlas Arts. Frances is a Homo Faber selected maker, QEST Scholar and Member of The Royal Society of Sculptors. Studio ceramics are represented by Cavaliero Finn in London and &Gallery in Edinburgh. One-off design objects can be found at Bard in Leith. Tile commissions and other collaborations are managed directly by the studio.
