Strange Town is a charity that offers theatre and arts opportunities to young people. We run a youth theatre for ages 5-18, a young company for ages 18-25 and school holiday drama projects for 8-18s. We also have a touring company taking issue-based plays to Edinburgh secondary schools and an agency supporting professional actors.
We regularly commission and produce new writing working with emerging writers and incorporating the voices of our young members to produce plays for them and with them. Strange Town also offers employment for 30-40 freelancers annually and offer work experience opportunities in partnership with Edinburgh secondary schools and Edinburgh College.
Our aim is to create an inclusive environment to provide these creative opportunities to anyone that wants them including offering bursary places to those that need them. We also aim to nurture the future generations of arts professionals by providing pathways in to arts careers as well as advancing and promoting the importance and value of the arts helping children and young people to develop skills for life and work.
Strange Town recently celebrated it's 15th birthday and we are delighted to have been based at Out of the Blue since our beginning.
