New Website

Some exciting news to start with this month - Out of the Blue has a new website.

Among the many changes we’ve made, our new What’s On section highlights the range of exhibitions, markets, workshops and other events taking place at the Drill Hall and Abbeymount Studios. Our classes page has also been updated, so you’ll be able to see at a glance what you can get involved in.

If you’re planning your own exhibition, workshop or meeting, we have a range of unique spaces available at the Drill Hall. To find out more just take a look at our Book a Space page.

What’s On This Month

Out of the Blueprint artist-in-residence Maddie Lennon has been using publication and poster design to explore notions of play in her TIC TAC TOE exhibition at the Drill Hall. If you haven’t been to see it yet, visit the Drill Hall before it closes on Saturday 12th April at 5pm

If you’d like to explore the fascinating world of risograph printing, sign up for the Out of the Blueprint Riso Workshop on Saturday 12th April at the Drill Hall. A fun creative workshop, you’ll learn how to make your own 2-colour A3 risograph prints.

Following the highly successful HOME Exhibition in September, the Drill Hall artists and makers are back with Kaleidoscope from Friday 11th to Friday 18th April. The fifth in a series of exhibitions, it explores the themes of light and colour.

After their popular Chinese New Year Market in February, Abbeymount Studios artists HelloArt return to the Drill Hall on Saturday 19th April with an Easter Fusion Market. From interactive workshops to arts and crafts stalls, it brings together the rich traditions of Asia and the festive spirit of Easter.

Our monthly Flea Market is taking place on Saturday 26th April. Come and browse over 45 stalls packed with pre-loved clothes, jewellery and collectibles. Who knows what you might find?

Over at Abbeymount Studios, award-winning artist Robin Paine is running two weekend-long Watercolour Workshops on 5th & 6th, and 12th & 13th April. Fashion designer Jen Byrne and artist Rosanna Reade are also running workshops where you can learn about making and recycling clothes and creating your own lino cut designs respectively.

The Drill Hall Arts Cafe is open Monday to Saturday, 10am - 5pm, throughout April, serving up delicious home-made breakfasts, snacks and meals. They’ve also added a new range of delicious Drill Hall Cafe Preserves, which you can buy to take home with you.
